Glenus Johnson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glenus Lenore (Glenny) Johnson (nee Durant) on February 2, 2021 at the age of 100.

Lenore was born April 22, 1920 in Fort William to Norman and Kay Durant of Slate River. She lived and went to school in Slate River and attended the Slate River Baptist Church, until moving to town to work. She worked at Canada Car for a number of years before marrying Elis Sandfred Johnson after the war. They had 2 children, Sandra Elizabeth and Norman Elis. Lenore remained a stay at home mom. She worked at the Red Cross after the children grew up and she remained in Thunder Bay.

She was a woman who loved her God and her family and she loved to travel. She later developed a passion for dogs with Louie, Faith and Savey becoming her children.

Lenore is survived by her daughter Sandra Elizabeth Hulbert (Murray) of Hinton, AB and daughter-in-law Donna Mary Johnson (Shillington); grandchildren Tracey May Johnson (Rick Baxter) of Shebandowan, Van Elis Hulbert (Megan) of Peace River, AB and Amanda Lenore Antoniak (Martin) of Thunder Bay; great grandchildren Colton, Rylen, Easton, Davis and Marek as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Kay and Norman Durant; her spouse Elis Sandfred Johnson (1994); her son Norman Elis Johnson (2014); siblings Vernon, Helen, Eldee, Alice, Buddy and Sadie as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to public health concerns, funeral services for Glenus Lenore Johnson will be held privately for family on Thursday, February 11, 2021 in the chapel of Jenkens Funeral Home presided by Pastor Jamie Nelder at 11:00 a.m. Please visit www.jenkensfuneral.ca to view the services live, or you may watch it at a later time as it will be archived on this same site.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Paws for Love Dog Rescue would be appreciated.
