Mrs. Gloria May Carmichael, nee Charles, age 92 years, passed away peacefully at her residence, Roseview Manor, Thunder Bay on December 26, 2016.

Born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, as a baby in arms, her family moved to Thunder Bay, where she remained a lifelong resident.

Gloria was employed with Can Car during World War II.  Her contribution to the war effort was operating a punch press, building planes.  This is where she met Thomas Elliot Carmichael, her soulmate and husband of 53 years.  She was an active member of P.A. Continental Little League Ladies Auxiliary and she enjoyed being an Avon Representative.  Her main interests in life were her family and volunteering.

Many of her children’s friends found Gloria’s home was always open for them.  She was a friend and mother to many, always willing to help where she could.  In her spare time, she loved tending to her flower garden, writing poetry, artwork, crossword puzzles, reading, sewing and designing her own clothes.  She had a special place in her heart for her many dogs and cats, especially her loyal cat Muffy.

Her family and friends referred to her by the name Googy, Googs and Glo.  Gloria will be lovingly remembered by her son Stanley (Debra) Carmichael; grandsons Rylan, Sean, Bowen and Dale Carmichael; great grandchildren Tristan and Marrisa Carmichael; sister Marilyn (James) Bolduc; niece Lorilee Morton; nephews David (Gloria Katchen) Scott, Regan (Karen) Bolduc; daughter-in-law Line Carmichael; and numerous other relatives.

She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Elliot Carmichael; sons Thomas Jr, Craig and Richard Carmichael; parents Pearl and George Charles; sister Dorothy Scott; nephew James Charles Bolduc.

Gloria requested there be no funeral service.  Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in the spring.  Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Gloria’s memory to a charity of your choice.

A special thank you to all the staff at Roseview Manor, Cheshire House unit, and Bayshore support staff for their loving care of Gloria.
