It is with heavy hearts we announce that Gordon Leonard Jacobs, age 84, of Thunder Bay, left us on March 10, 2024, peacefully in his sleep.

Born in Kincaid, Saskatchewan on November 27, 1939 to parents Manley and Grace. Gordon was a "stand up guy", an honest and straightforward man of good character and honesty. He had the ability to FIX anything and took great pleasure in helping anyone he could. He would carve Eagles and Bears in wood with his chainsaw and gave many as gifts.

His love of camping and fishing took he, his wife (Joan) and family pets to many places of joy which were full of laughter, while travelling west to visit family and friends when they could. Gordon and Joan travelled to B.C. and back on his motorcycle in his younger years.

He loved the simple things in life. Sitting in his backyard with a coffee and his dog on his lap was "home....this was peace".

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Jacobs (Al); best pal (who he named in honour of his late wife), J.J. the Shichon; granddaughter, Tonya Miller (Jordan); great-grandchildren, Lydia, Violet and Evelyn; brothers, Jim Jacobs, Ron Jacobs (Grace), Ralph Jacobs (Ruth), and Allan Jacobs (Jeanette); sisters, Maxine Bell (Stan), and Yvonne Jacobs; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Predeceased by his wife, Sarah Joan Jacobs; his parents, Manley and Grace (nee: Smith); and brother, Alvan Jacobs (Patricia).

"Life is good he would say."

May your soul rest in peace, our MacGyver.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gordon’s memory to any local Animal Rescue would be greatly appreciated. He was an avid animal lover and wanted to rescue them all.
