It is with sadness that we announce that Gordon Moore Scott passed away in his sleep at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011.

He was born in Port Arthur to his parents Thomas and Nellie Scott on Aug. 14, 1920. He lived on the farm in Marks Township until moving to Port Arthur in 1948. He married his wife Eileen Raynard on Aug. 14, 1944 and they celebrated 66 years together. Gordon worked for Superior Lumber and later was employed as a custodian for the Lakehead Board of Education. He lived in the home he built on 2 Ryde Avenue for 60 years, then moved to Hilldale Gardens.


Survived by his wife Eileen, sister Clara Shorrock, daughters Joy (Bob) Newstead, Beverley (Ken ) Shewfelt and son Terry (Kathy) Scott, grandchildren Scott (Janine) Newstead, Andrew (Dalene) Newstead, Laura (Colin) Jackson, Mark (Rebecca) Shewfelt, Paul (Shelly) Shewfelt, Aaryn (Eugene) Chong, Jordan (Amanda) Scott and seven great grandchildren. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Predeceased by his parents, children Thomas John (1953) and Valerie Dawn (1957), his sisters Violet (Frank) Sitch, brother Roy (Dorothy) Scott.

Gordon was a devoted member of St. Stephen's Anglican Church and had a strong religious faith. Well done good and faithful servant.

Interment will take place at a later date in Riverside Cemetery.
