GREGORY WAKEWICH

Mr. Gregory “Greg” Wakewich, age 51 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, with his family by his side.

Greg was born on November 21, 1965 in Fort William to Reg and Myrtle Wakewich. In 1989, Greg married Carol Nelligan and together they raised three children, Shayla, Colin and Laura. He attended school at Isabella, Kingsway, Northwood and Con College. He received his mechanics licence and worked with Happy Time Tours until 2011, when he started with Bombardier. Greg was a happy go lucky guy who made friends easily with his strong willingness to help others. He was a Westfort boy who volunteered as a hockey coach for several years in the Westfort Hockey League. He also supported and ran various charity events for BISNO (Brain Injury Services of Northern Ontario). Greg had so many interests and passions including NASCAR and Sprint car racing, curling (Fort William Curling Club), hockey, camping, fishing, golfing and sports in general, but his greatest interest was spending time with his children and two grandchildren Sean and Rachel. He will be greatly missed.

Greg is survived by his wife Carol; children Shayla (Ryan Baccari), Colin and Laura; grandchildren Sean and Rachel; parents Reg and Myrtle; brother Reg and sister Brenda (Larry Oswald) as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and in laws from the Wakewich, Monty, Everett and Nelligan families.

He was predeceased by his grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.

Funeral Services for the late Mr. Gregory Wakewich will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Interment will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00pm in the Westfort Chapel.

Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Greg to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
