Olive Eade

The family and friends of Olive Ede sadly announce her peaceful passing on Wed. Nov. 28, 2018 at her home, Roseview Manor.

Olive enjoyed a long and healthy life to the age of 99 years. She was born Sept. 11, 1919 in Fort William to Walter and Minnie Ede. She lived her whole life in the family home on Brunswick Street. Olive was employed for 40 years with the federal government in several departments and retired as Health and Welfare Manager. Her family and her church were very important to her. She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church. She was also a life long member of Soroptimist International of Thunder Bay. In May 2013 She was honoured with a lifetime achievement from the Eastern Canada Region and in May 2016 she was honoured as a 60-year member. Olive enjoyed traveling, visiting family and attending many Soroptimist conventions around the world.

Olive is lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Maureen James (Terry), Astrid Sanders (Derek), Mary Gowans & family, John Beecher (Melanie) and family, and David Ede. Her sister-in-law, Eleanor Ede, Ottawa, also survives. Olive is also fondly remembered by her friends, Karen Wintermute and her family, Jeff (Angela) and their children Derek and Ava; and Jolene (Kevin). She was predeceased by her parents, and brothers and sister, Alan, Muriel (Jack) and Maurice, and special friend Al Fairbridge.

Family and friends are welcome to share a memorial celebration for Olive at St. Paul’s Anglican Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thurs. Dec. 6, 2018. A very special person in Olive’s heart, The Rev. Arch Deacon Deborah Kraft will preside with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Olive was a grand lady. She was compassionate for those less fortunate and several charities will continue to be blessed with her generosity. Our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff of Southbridge Roseview who made Olive’s life for the past year and a half very happy and fulfilling. Our thanks also to Blake Funeral Chapel for their kindness and guidance.

Rest in peace dear lady.
