Harry Baxter, age 62 years, a Marten Falls First Nation member, passed away with his family by his side after a lengthy illness at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, Thunder Bay, ON on Thursday, February 26, 2015.  Harry resided with his family in Geraldton, ON.

Harry was raised at Makokibaton Lake, where as a young man he worked as a hunting and fishing guide. He later worked for the Ministry of Transport for 18 years. He later opened his own tourist business on the Attawapskit River. He also operated a medical transportation system in the community of Marten Falls.  Harry served as a Band Councillor and Chief of Marten Falls First Nation.

Harry will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Irene; sons Harry Jr (Alexis), Delaney (Marisa), Jamie (Priscilla) and Joseph Baxter; daughters Angela  and April Baxter; grandchildren Skye, Lindsey, Sheldon, Simeon, Patience, Annie, Meadow, Elias, Mason, Everette, Paige, Hailey, Wade, Faith, Dresyn and Georgie; great grandchildren Alayna and Desiree; brothers Bob (Lynn), Norman (Christine), Lindy (Debbie), Ralph (Yvonne); and sisters Grace (John), Charlotte (Donald), Annie and Mae; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

Harry was predeceased by parents Elijah and Florence Baxter and brothers Donald, Walter, Christopher, Riley and William.

Funeral Services for Harry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. Fr. Chris Harper of the Anglican Church of St. Michael & All Angels.  Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior, at 12:00 noon. 

Interment will take place in the cemetery of Marten Falls First Nation on Tuesday, March 3rd. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Harry’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation.
