It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Helen Frances Whitehurst, on February 25, 2024 at her residence in Hogarth Riverview Manor.
Helen was born on July 29, 1933 to Charles and Marjorie (Udale) Kingston in White River, ON.
Helen married the love of her life John (Jack) Whitehurst in 1961 and they enjoyed 62 wonderful years together. They purchased their first home on Catherine St soon after marriage. About 15 years later they embraced their love of the outdoors and built their own home in Devon Township, where they spent the next 47 years.
She had many loves in life including music, dancing, sled dogs, cats. Her greatest enjoyment was travelling on their motorcycle.
Helen is survived by her husband Jack. She is also survived by her children, son Michael, daughter Leona and son John (Jennifer). She is also survived by sisters Arlene Hamel and Elaine Kingston, many grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her parents, brother Charles and mother-in-law Florence Whitehurst.
Thanks to the wonderful staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor for Mom’s care over the last several years.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to Paws For Love Thunder Bay would be greatly appreciated.
