Helen Jones
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mrs. Helen Georgina Jones (nee Banbury) on Monday, August 23, 2021 in Southbridge Pinewood Long Term Care Facility.

Helen was born June 24, 1929 in Norfolk County to James and Eliza Banbury. She attended elementary school in Norfolk county. Following Helen's graduation from Waterford High School in 1947, she attended Hamilton Normal School from 1948-1949 and then began her teaching career. In 1963 Helen received her Supervisor's Certificate in primary education. She enjoyed her teaching career but happily gave it up once Cameron and Jeffrey arrived. One of her greatest joys was to be at home supporting her children.

In 1952 Helen married (Reginald) Lloyd Jones in Waterford, Ontario. At this time, Helen was busy supporting Lloyd while he pursued his undergraduate studies at Western University and his Masters of Education at the University of Toronto.

As life evolved, Helen and Lloyd took on a new adventure in Dryden, ON where Lloyd accepted a position with the Ministry of Education as a Public School Inspector. Cam was born January 28, 1967 and Jeff followed shortly thereafter on July 2, 1968. In 1969 Lloyd and Helen moved the young family to Thunder Bay (Fort William)-again because of Lloyd's work.

Helen often spoke of her reason for not going back to her teaching career– it involved having freshly baked chocolate cake or cookies available as an after school treat for Cam and Jeff. She enjoyed knitting & crafting, cooking & baking but was most comfortable being at home with family.

In 2003, Helen became a grandmother. Just as she was a strong supporter of Cam's and Jeff's activities, Helen spent as much time as she could with Liam and Julia and came to many of their events. She was a dedicated wife, supportive mother and a loving, proud grandmother.

Helen is survived by her son Cam (Susan) Jones; grandchildren Liam & Julia Jones; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don & Olean Jones; nephews Reg and Chris Jones and their families; brother-in-law Fred Snively; niece Sue Snively (son Dawson).

She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd Jones; her son Jeffrey Jones; her parents James and Eliza Banbury; her sister Hilda Snively; and her nephews Darryl and Dale Snively.

As per Helen's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Harbourview Funeral Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Regional Cancer Care Northwest, the TBRHSC Our Hearts at Home Cardiovascular Campaign or a charity of your choice may be made in her name.
