It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of a wonderful lady, Helen Griffin, who passed away in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hospice Unit, at the age of 66 years. She passed peacefully in the arms of her daughter Michelle on the afternoon of December 7, 2016.
Born on March 11, 1950 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Helen was a beloved mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and valued friend who was loved by many.
She will be sadly missed by daughter Michelle (Naz) Larizza and son Willis Griffin; grandchildren Angel, Bruno, Michael, Tyler, Savanna, Preston and Liam; brothers Frank (Theresa) Griffin and Dan (Theresa) Griffin; sisters Patricia Griffin and Elizabeth (Robert) Maze.
Helen was predeceased by parents Dermott and Mary Ellen Griffin; sisters Sheila Pallozzi and Doreen Bergeron; and brother Ken Griffin.
Family and friends are welcome to attend Helen’s Funeral Service which will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. Luigi Filippini of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service, at 9:00 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Helen’s memory to the Thunder Bay Food Bank would be appreciated.
