Helen Moorhead (nee Tees)

Helen Moorhead, resident of Pioneer Ridge, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 with family by her side on September 30, 2015.

Helen was a lifetime resident of Thunder Bay. She married John in 1952 and they had 43 happy years together.

She worked at various retail establishments, the longest being McNultys. Helen and John spent many years travelling, mainly to Portugal and Europe.

Mom’s main joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandson. She enjoyed spending quality time with her friends at weekly lunches and card games.

She was an active member of Lakeview Presbyterian Church and enjoyed being involved with Lakeview Presbyterian Women. She volunteered for Via Vitae and enjoyed visiting other families in need of companionship. Mom was always there when someone needed her.

Helen is survived by her daughters Sherry (Bill) Genova, Cindy (Allen) Nethercott and son John (Brenda) Moorhead, grandchildren Stephanie Genova, Carolyn Genova (Marco), Daniel Nethercott, Taylor Moorhead, Erin Moorhead and great grandson Nicolas Genova. She is also survived by nieces Karen (Larry) Parker, Dawn Curley and their families, sisters-in-law Dee-Dee Milani, Eileen Nicoletti, numerous nieces and nephews and by many dear friends.

She was predeceased by her loving husband John in 1995. She was also predeceased by her sister, Margaret Hytonen and sister and brother-in-laws.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Lakeview Presbyterian Church on Camelot Street; reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of your choice.
