Helen Ruth Kauzlarick (nee Kusisto), 86 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at her home in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Ruth was born October 23, 1929 in Rock Point, Saskatchewan.  She moved to Port Arthur, Ont., at the age of 18 to work as a dental assistant for Dr. MacDonald and Dr. Henry.  She met her future husband John at a dance at The Finn Hall and later married in 1951. 
That same year Ruth helped John start Kauz Construction, working hands on at the job site.  She supported John’s endeavours in construction and development throughout the years.

Ruth was very passionate about her volunteer work and gave of her time generously  to multiple organizations for over 50 years, including the Port Arthur General and Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.  Ruth was also a long standing member and volunteer at Trinity United Church.

Ruth is survived by her sons Dale and Paul of Thunder Bay, daughter Karen (Raichelson) of Etobicoke, grandchildren Ben, Adam, Jaclyn, Megan, Greg, her sister Mildred (Minty) Kosolofski of Medicine Hat, Alberta, brother in law Walter Kauzlarick, as well as nephews and nieces in Saskatchewan and Alberta, and relatives in Finland.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents Kustaa and Maria Kusisto, husband John, son Rob, a brother in infancy and brothers Roy and Wayne.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Trinity United Church, Thunder Bay. Interment for family will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
