It is with great sadness that the family announces Helen’s passing on March 19, 2022, at Roseview Manor at the age of 96.
Helen was born in Kivikoski to Naina and Emil Blixt on May 21, 1925. She married Mauri Luhtala and had two children, Marion and Richard. Throughout her life she worked at various jobs from bush camp cookee to commercial fishing.
She married Ulo (Eddie) Varblane in 1986 and had many happy years until his passing in 2017.
Survived by two sisters, Irene and Shirley; grandson Wayne Ihamaki; four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents; husband Ulo; daughter Marion Ihamaki; son-in-law Waino Ihamaki; son Richard; sisters Anita and Linnea; brother Alfred; niece Barb Sharp and nephews Alfred Luoma and Leonard Lassi.
As per her wishes there will be no service and a private interment will be held at a later date in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Donations to the Alzheimer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank the staff at Roseview Manor for the care they provided during her stay there.
