Mrs. Helen Young, age 71 years, passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on Feb. 6, 2017, with loving family by her side.

Helen was born in Carnwath, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She grew up in Darvel and lived in Galston, both in East Ayrshire, Scotland, before emigrating to Canada in 1980, joining her sister and brother-in-law in Thunder Bay.

Helen was a bookkeeper in Scotland, utilizing those skills in various jobs over the years in Thunder Bay, including McNultys, Advanced Bookkeeping, and Medi-Plus.

Helen’s greatest passion was her family, her husband Billy was the light in her eyes. She loved family get-togethers, the holidays, and visits from relatives abroad and trips to see them. Helen adored her Mum & Dad, their visits to Canada were a highlight, and in more recent times travelling home to spend time with them in their twilight years.

Helen dearly loved her only child, Steven, and her 2 sisters & 2 brothers.  She doted on her numerous nieces & nephews.

Helen will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered by her son, Steven, siblings Elizabeth (Tom Young), Nancy (Leonard DeVulder), Danny, and Iain (Jo-Anne), sister-in-law Anne (Robin Anderson), and many loving nieces & nephews.

Helen was pre-deceased by her loving husband Billy, parents Dan & Betty, mother-in-law Minnie, and sister-in-law Margaret.
