The family is saddened to announce the passing of Helena Bartczak, at the age of 97. She passed away peacefully on Sunday July 12th, 2015 in Grandview Lodge.

Helena was born in Piegonisko, Poland. In 1980, she immigrated to Thunder Bay joining her daughter Janina, her son-in-law Joseph and her granddaughter Wieslawa. Helena was a devoted catholic and a longtime member of St. Mary’s Our Lady Queen of Poland Catholic Church.

Helena will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Janina Tomski, her daughter-in-law Zofia Bartczak, her grandchildren Wieslawa (Gregory) MacQueen, Bozena (Richard) Grochowski, Bogdan (Agnieszka) Bartczak, Wieslaw (Malgorzata) Bartczak, Krzystof (Malgorzata) Bartczak and her grandson-in-law Jan Balcerzyk. Helena will also be missed by 17 great grandchildren and their children. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive in Poland.

Helena was predeceased by her husband Jan Batczak, her daughter Irena Bartczak, her son Henryk Bartczak, her son-in-law Joseph Tomski, her granddaughter Halina Balcerzyk, and also by 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Funeral Services for Helena will be held on Thursday July 16th, 2015, leaving the HARBOURVIEW FUNERAL CENTRE at 10:30 AM to go to St. Mary’s Our Lady Queen of Poland Catholic Church where a Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM by Fr. Ireneusz Stadler.

Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday July 15th, 2015 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the HARBOURVIEW FUNERAL CENTRE, 499 North Cumberland Street. Vigil Prayers will be offered that same evening at 7:00 PM. If anyone so desires, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helena’s memory to St. Mary’s Our Lady Queen of Poland Church.
