It is with profound sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our Dear Friend and neighbor, Helena Hawryluk, of Nipigon, at the age of 103 years, on the evening of July 31, 2022.
Helena passed away peacefully at her residence in the Long Term facility of Nipigon District Memorial Hospital, where she resided for several years.
She was predeceased by her Mother Halina and Father Piotr Diskant as well as her Brother Nicolai and Husband Steve Hawryluk.
Cremation has take place and she will be laid to rest with her Mother in Nipigon Cliffside Cemetery as per her wishes at a later date to be determined.
Helena's longevity no doubt is a testament to the healthy lifestyle she lived and her love of the outdoors, particularly in her garden. She spent many long hard hours of labour turning over her garden by hand, planting and reaping her harvest every year before entering Hospital.
Linda and Roma wish to express their sincere thanks to all of the staff who cared for Helena in her final years.
Funeral Services will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
May she Rest in Peace with her Momma.
