Helga Hakkarainen

Mrs. Helga Hakkarainen, age 84 years, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2018, in TBRHSC with family by her side.

Helga was born on May 30, 1934 in Heinavesi, Finland. She lived in Longlac and more recently in Thunder Bay. She loved to cook and bake special Finnish dishes for family and friends. She had a skill for knitting and sewing and made sure everyone was dressed warm. She took great pride in caring for her two grandchildren and became affectionately known as Mummo to everyone.

Helga will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by Harri, her husband of 64 years, and son Timo (Diane), grandchildren Mark and Kevin, along with relatives and siblings in Thunder Bay and Finland.

Cremation has taken place and a service will be held on Thursday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Hilldale Lutheran Church with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Helga to a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
