Herbert Winslow
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Herbert William Winslow, age 76 years at Southbridge Roseview Manor, Thunder Bay on August 29, 2021.

Herbert was born on April 20, 1945 in Emo, Ontario to William and Christena Winslow. He was the youngest of three boys. The family eventually moved to Dorion and finally Thunder Bay. Herbie worked at the Hodder Tavern for over 20 years doing odd jobs and socializing with the patrons (he may have done more socializing than working). Herbie “The Love Bug” was said at times to be the “7th Wonder of Current River”, always getting a smile and a good laugh out of everyone who crossed his path. Herbie was an avid 5-Pin bowler and a sports fan. You would never really know who his favourite sports teams were… I guess you can say he liked jumping on the bandwagons. In 2010 he got his picture taken with the Stanley Cup wearing an Oilers Jersey and Red Wings Hat…the Blackhawks won the cup that year.

His driving skills were second to none, driving ‘exactly’ the speed limit and obeying ‘all’ the rules of the road. The only waiver would be giving the ‘peace’ sign to all the truckers as they drove by. He enjoyed getting out to the family camp trying his luck at catching a salmon on Lake Superior. His faith in God was strong and he enjoyed spending time with his fellowship. Herbie’s family was very important to him, thoroughly enjoying the holiday gatherings. Herb’s brother Robert was his pillar of support and relied heavily on Robert for guidance.

Herbie is survived and lovingly remembered by his brother Robert Winslow; nephews Rob Winslow, Shawn Huls (Celine) and Monty Winslow (Tracy); nieces Robin Billard (Joe), Karly Huls and Samantha Winslow.

Herbie was predeceased by his parents William and Christena Winslow; brother David Winslow; and niece Kathleen Winslow-Huls.

Thank you to the staff at Southbridge Roseview Manor and Partners in Rehab for their care over the past few years.
Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at the Dorion Mountainside Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Herb’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
