Hilkka Ethel Miller

Mrs. Hilkka Ethel Miller passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, after a lengthy illness. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 28, 1929.

Hilkka attended Winnipeg schools and the former PACI in Thunder Bay, graduating with honours from grade 12 in 1948.

Hilkka was a reliable employee in the Bank of Commerce for several years. In 1952 Hilkka married her soulmate, Wilfred Miller, a union which lasted 64 years.

She was a dedicated member of Calvary Lutheran Church and Hilkka, along with her husband, were among the founder members of Calvary. Hilkka volunteered herself to church service which included leadership on the Altar Committee, Mary Martha Guild and Welcoming Committee.

Survived by her husband Wilfred; daughter Catherine Ann of BC; sons James of Windsor, Ken of Hamilton and David of Thunder Bay; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Anna and Gus Mattila.

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Hilkka Miller will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in Calvary Lutheran Church, 2820 Donald Street E., with Rev. Tim Barone officiating.
