Mrs. Iris Patricia Sambray, age 73 years, passed away peacefully with family at her side in the T.B.R.H.S.C. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

Iris was born in Fort William on March 17, 1944, the daughter of Ernest and Florence Smith. She grew up in Westfort and worked as a Secretary with the Lakehead District Catholic School Board for over 25 years.

A mother of 4, her greatest joy was found during time spent with her children and grandchildren, especially at the camp at Eaglehead Lake where she shared in many wonderful memories with her family and friends for over 41 years.

Over the last 25 years, Iris faced many health challenges but did so with great courage and determination. She was truly the strongest person that we knew. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Bayshore Home Care, especially Karen and Alek for going above and beyond in their care for Iris and to Dr. Sacevich, Dr. Fidler and Dr. Melton for the many years of excellent treatment that you provided to her. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and support staff of ICU and 2C at the T.B.R.H.S.C. for their compassion and care shown to Iris during her time there and a special thank you to nurse Tyler on 2C for all that you did to help us through the nights that we spent with her.

Iris will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her son Jim (Terri) Sambray and their son Ryan Sambray, daughter Dyanna (Bill) Nicholl and their children Natasha, Farrah, Vanessa and Olivia Nicholl, daughter Shelley (Mike) Steadwell and their children Mitchell (Tawnie), Remington (Miranda), Laura (Jonathon) and Derek Steadwell, son Warren (Tricia) Sambray and their children Joshua and Lilly Sambray, the father of her children Bob Sambray, brother John (Rose) Smith, brother-in-law Michel, lifetime best friend Jeanette, as well as by nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Pat Smith. Family and friends will gather next summer to celebrate her life at the place she loved the most, her camp at Eaglehead Lake.

As expressions of sympathy memorials to the Arthritis Society or the CNIB would be appreciated. Arrangements are in care of the Sargent & Son Funeral Directors, 21 N. Court Street. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
