Isabelle Elizabeth Barrett, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Wednesday January 10 2018, after living for a century, Born November 17, 1917 to Albert and Pearl Zewiec, she lived for ten decades of historical change in the world. In 1938 Isabelle married Ronald Peter Barrett who predeceased her in 1983 after 45 years of marriage. She is survived by her son, Ron (Carol), her daughter, Dawne ( Norm), five grandchildren, JoAnne (Dave), Terry, and Christine (Britt); Danny (Tasha), and Jennifer, as well as five great grandchildren, Ben, Joe and Seth; Kenzie and Cali. Isabelle had one sister, Victoria (Bernard) (deceased) and one half brother (Albert) (deceased) two half sisters, Florence O’Keefe and Josie Zewiec. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Isabelle was a homemaker who loved to cook and bake, sew and knit. She was a skater (speed skates) who played on a woman’s hockey team in her youth, and a bowler for many years with her husband Ron. She was known for her beautiful oil paintings both of landscape and still life, many of which hang in our homes today. Isabelle was a long time volunteer for the CLE who loved to judge at Fall Fairs in Thunder Bay and surrounding districts. Isabelle will be missed by her family and friends.
A celebration of Isabelle’s life will take place in the spring of this year. Interment will be held on Tuesday January 16 2018 at 11:00 am in Mountain View Cemetery.
