It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Edwards at Pioneer Ridge on Friday, August 17, 2018, surrounded by family.

Jack was born September 11, 1924 in Gillies Twsp., Ontario, to Nora and Chester Edwards. He grew up on the farm with his sister and three brothers. From stories told, it was a happy childhood.

On August 20, 1949, he married his "little lady" Madge. They spent 65 wonderful years together, until her passing in 2015.

Jack was a hardworking man, it seemed the harder he worked, the happier he was. He was a private trucking contractor with a fleet of trucks which he contracted out to the Department of Highways and then to the The City of Thunder Bay until his retirement at the age of 67. In retirement he spent countless hours behind his house on Mapleward Road cutting pulp wood, clearing brush, and moving boulders with his loader to landscape his yard. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was always so proud of each of his grandchildren, and as with his children, supported them in all of their endeavours. Jack enjoyed taking his grandchildren for a ride in the loader, or having them help him with one of his jobs out back. He was fortunate to have three precious great grandsons. He looked forward to their visits from Calgary.

Jack is survived by son Ron Edwards (Bev); daughters Gail Favot (Enos) and Sherry Devereaux (Lynn); grandchildren Krista Favot (Chris), Kurtis Favot (Lindsay), Jennifer Edwards, Kim Edwards and Shara Devereaux; great grandsons Hudson, Ronan and Levi. He is also survived by his brother Pat Edwards (Betty) who visited him regularly, bringing him treats, and for the last while has enjoyed Sunday dinners with them at Pioneer Ridge.

Jack is predeceased by wife Madge, granddaughter Mary in infancy, parents Nora and Chester Edwards, sister Thelma Kivi and brothers Clifford and Alvin Edwards.

The family would like to thank the staff of Pioneer Ridge, Plaza 2 for being so kind and caring. We appreciate all you did for him.

Funeral Service will be held at Jenkens Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, with a reception to follow at the Knights of Columbus. Cremation has taken place and internment will follow at a later date.

Should friends desire, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Helping Hands Auxiliary Pioneer Ridge or a charity of your choice.
