It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Jack Goodie at at his favourite place, Sandstone Lake, on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the age of 78. 

Jack was born in Fort William, Ontario on February 12th, 1937 to parents Peter and Annie Goodie, and grew up in Westfort.  He was employed with Great Lakes Paper for 38 years and retired at age 57.  He loved to cook, enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent many years camping at Sandstone Lake. 

Jack was a dedicated parishioner of St Elizabeth’s Church where he took an active part “taking-care-of-things” always ready and willing to help out any way he could in the church activities.  In his earlier years, he coached pee-wee hockey and T-ball. 

He was a devoted fan of all his grandson's baseball and hockey games, and an avid sports fan watching his favourite teams on T.V., as well as supporting the local Thunderwolves and Border Cats. 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mitzi, daughter Roxanne Skogberg (Wayne), Karen Knoll of Calgary, sister Mary Ann Auld, son-in-law Patrick Ludwig (Floretta), grandchildren Scott Ludwig (Katrina), Stephanie Goodie of Calgary, Michael Skogberg (Nicole) of Gillam MB, David Skogberg (Lacey), Kevin Mason (Marcy), and Keith Mason, great-grandchildren Trent and Zoe Ludwig, Carson Skogberg and Jaxxon Mason, nieces Carol Auld, Jody (Dan) Budd, nephews Murray Auld, Darrell Auld and good friend Jim Kowalchuk. 

He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Annie Goodie, son David Goodie, daughter Joanne Ludwig, brother-in-law Bill Auld, son-in-law Glenn Knoll, parents-in-law Helene and Bill Alchorn.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 11:00am, at St. Elizabeth's Church celebrated by Rev. Rey Ronquillo. A private family internment will follow.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice would be appreciated.

Jack Goodie will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
