God chose for him to live February 14, 1984 and chose for him to die October 6, 2018.

Jake lived his life enjoying to the fullest so much of the beauty earth has to offer. He was an avid rock climber, skier and hiker. Jake passed away on the side of the mountain in beautiful British Columbia where he worked as a tree faller, he loved his life. Jake was a giver.

The most precious gift he gave at the age of 8 was his bone marrow to save the life of his eldest brother Erik. To the rest of his family, his Mom Judy, his Dad Norm and his other brother Curt, Jake gave us himself and all he had to offer, which was genuine love and wisdom of the life he led. He generously shared his skill of what he knew best; the outdoors. Jake also loved and shared his life with sisters-in-law Julie and Winnie, as well as nieces Indie, Sophie and Billie.

Throughout Jake’s life he gathered many friends wherever his travels took him. Here in Thunder Bay we were lucky to have shared in the lives of so many of his friends as they stand beside us now. Little did we know how many other friends Jake had brought into his life until their love and support shone through at this sad time.

Jake is now held in the arms of those who predeceased him, his grandmothers and grandfathers: Daisy and Wilf Axelson, June and Rudy Guarasci, and Burton Allen.
Loving family and friends who passed before him.

Funeral Services for Jake will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. NOON in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service time.
