It is with broken hearts the family of James (Jim) Henry announce his peaceful passing at St. Joseph Hospital on October 20, 2017.

James was born in Port Arthur on May 7, 1935. Jim was in Air Cadets and Navy Cadets when he was younger. He worked at many different jobs before settling in with the Lakehead Board of Education until his retirement. Jim was member of the Branch 5 Legion for many years and made many friends. Jim was the entertainment at all the family gatherings, making people laugh was one of his pleasures.

Jim is survived by his loving stepson Al (Cathy) Arvelin; daughters Cathy (Brad) Hakanen and Cindy (Wayne) Vanderydt. Jim is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren who he loved dearly. He is predeceased by his parents, his step father and his loving wife Betty of 39 years in March of this year.

There are all types of dads in the world but there is a really special one and we call him Papa.

A celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on Wednesday October 25, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 5, 229 Van Norman Street. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
