It is with great sadness that the family of James “Jim” Arthur Edwards announces his passing at TBRHSC on Thursday July 30, 2015 at the age of 60.

Jim was born in Port Arthur on October 8th, 1954 to parents John and Joyce Edwards. He had attended Lakeview High School and then attended Lakehead University where he graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree.

He had previously worked at the Abitibi Mill, Hogarth Westmount Hospital, Tom MacDonald Fuels, Dingwell’s Machinery and Supply Ltd., and most recently was the owner and operator of several Wendy’s Restaurants.

Jim’s motto was “work hard, play hard”, and he did.  Jim loved to have friends over to the garage, where they would share stories, laugh and receive advice.  Jim’s only rule about the garage was: “what was said in the garage stayed in the garage”.  Everyone knew you didn’t need an invite to come and you could stay as long as you liked.

One of Jim’s passions was wood-working. He would spend hours in the shop, cutting and sanding.  Every year he would make wooden Christmas gifts for friends and family, but the projects he was most proud of were the cradles, table and chairs he built for each of his grandsons.  He spent hours ensuring they were perfect for his boys.

Another passion Jim had was for fast cars. He would spend hours washing and polishing them and they were never dirty.  Whenever he bought a new sports car, he would ensure it was standard. It was his way of guaranteeing he would be the only one to drive it.

Jim also enjoyed golfing and traveling.  He especially enjoyed the many trips he took with his close friends and family over the years.  Many memories were made and laughs were had.

Jim had a heart of gold and will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Kristin (Peter) Cava and Karen (Jeff) Witiluk, (and their mother Carol Edwards), his grandsons Ethan and Ryder Cava and Jacob and Cole Witiluk, his partner Tina Masetto (her daughter Jacqueline, her son Connor and their family), and by his brother Jack (Beverley) Edwards and his sister Barbara Edwards. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. He was predeceased by his parents John and Joyce Edwards.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on Wednesday August 5th, 2015 in the Valhalla Inn Ballroom from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM where his family and friends will be gathering to share their memories and stories. If anyone so desires, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to Camp Quality or to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
