James Irvine

With great sorrow the family of James “Jim” Edward Irvine wish to announce his passing. Jim met his maker on the morning of Thursday, October 19th, 2017 at the age of 75 after a brief illness.

Jim grew up on Government Road where he was welcomed into the Demchuk family and where he met longtime friends the Giertuga and Kinner brothers.

Jim was employed by Richardson Elevator for 40 years. Jim was a proud resident of Current River and he enjoyed spending time with or helping out neighbours and friends.

Jim spent his retirement years working in the yard, spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing, walking with his “Gorgeous” dog Maggie, visiting the casino or just sitting at the picnic table with an OV enjoying company and the outdoors. He enjoyed telling jokes and stories of the past. He will be remembered as a great story teller. Jim was also a dedicated fan of the Toronto Blue Jays parking himself in front of the television for every game.

Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years Donna, children John and Lisa (Tony) Kolic, grandchildren Meaghan Irvine, Devin, Nicole and Cody Kolic, sisters in law Jackie Mack and Kristi McWhirter (Rob) and brother in law Iain Fellows (Jenny), nieces Christal Mack, Lauri (Terry) Pedlow and Kim and nephew Richard Mack. Predeceased by sister Shirley Bregg, step brother Norman Milne and grandson Tony Kolic Jr.

The family wishes to send sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses of the ICU who cared for Jim and for their efforts, compassion and empathy for our dad during his stay at the TBRHSC.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, October 28th at the Current River Rec Centre from 12-4. Donations can be made in memory of “Jimmy” to the TBRHSF.

In Jim’s honour, turn on some Johnny Cash and raise a glass to an amazing, kind hearted soul. Others should learn to enjoy the simple things in life as he did.
