The family of James (Jim) Arnold Moore is deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father and grandfather surrounded by his loving family on November 3, 2017 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Jim was born in Cache Bay, Ontario on June 16, 1933 to Helen and Arnold Moore. The family moved about frequently to places such as Sturgeon Falls, Sudbury, Larder Lake and Virginiatown. In his early years, he worked as a garage mechanic, underground miner and in construction. Most of his career was spent in the forest industry. He worked as the Chief Ranger at Black Sturgeon, Armstrong and Elk Lake while with the Lands & Forests. With Great Lakes Forest Products, he held positions as Fire Protection Supervisor, Superintendent of Woodlands Operations for the Graham Division, and Woodlands Protection Superintendent. He retired in 1986 due to severe arthritis.

He was a goaltender before masks became “fashionable”. His interests were hunting, fishing, boating and playing cards. His passion was playing pool which he eagerly taught to all of his grandchildren.

Jim married Eleanor Montgomery in Port Arthur in 1957. They had 53 wonderful and loving years together. She predeceased him in 2010. He is survived by his children Bruce (Lena), Julie, Cindy Marson (Edward), brothers Gary (Joanne), Ross (Marlene), Bill (Kathy), sister Donna, grandchildren Jessica, Garrett, Jennifer, Bradley, Breanna and many nieces and nephews across the country.

Special thanks to Yvette, Tony, Dr. Davis and all of the caregivers at CCAC, Bayshore and TBRHSC. As Jim had a special place in his heart for pets, donations to Kitty Kare Feline Rescue or the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society would be appreciated. A service will not be held at his request.
