Mr. James Otto Viklen, age 72 years, passed away peacefully with loving family at his side in the T.B.R.H.S.C. on Friday, April 13, 2018.

James was born in Port Arthur, Ontario on August 28, 1945, the son of Otto and Violet Viklen, and was a lifetime resident. He married Gail Black and together they raised 5 children. Family was always the focus of his life. A hard working man, he worked as an R.P.N. at the L.P.H. before moving to MacMillan Bloedel and then updating his R.P.N. Certification to work at Bethammi Nursing Home, everything he did was to provide for his family. He was very supportive of his children and grandchildren and was happiest during time spent with them. He enjoyed watching sports and, in younger years, camping with family and friends.

He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his children: Kevin (Barb), Jeremy (Jen), Darren, Robin and Leah Viklen; grandchildren William, Rachel, C.J., Seth, Brady, Kyler and Payton, brother Dennis (Sandra) as well as by nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his wife Gail and his parents.

A celebration of the life of James Viklen will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the T.B.R.H.S. Foundation-Northern Cancer Fund would be appreciated. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
