James Thomas (Jamie) Walker aged 61 passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 8, 2017 with his mother by his side. Jamie was born in Fort William on August 19, 1955 and spent his childhood in Thunder Bay and attended Victoria Park public school and FWCI. In his younger days, Jamie spent his summers at the family camp at Amethyst Harbour where he was involved in all the activities provided and especially enjoyed playing tennis and water skiing and spending time with his many friends. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts degree and from the University of Windsor with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce.

After graduation from University, Jamie moved to Toronto where he was employed with various financial institutions. He thoroughly enjoyed the challenges and opportunities afforded by these positions.

Jamie loved living in Toronto - sailing on Lake Ontario, attending hockey, baseball and basketball games and playing many different sports including tennis and racquetball. He participated in everything living in downtown Toronto had to offer.

Jamie was an avid reader and was especially interested in keeping abreast of political and business affairs.

Jamie loved being with people and was happiest when he was in a crowd and surrounded by friends. Jamie was a good and generous friend to many people and possessed a unique ability to humorously tell stories about the numerous adventures he undertook during his life. His unfortunate passing will reunite his friends, from Thunder Bay and around the country, as they reminisce about the many good times they shared during their lifetime of friendship with him.
Jamie is survived by his loving mother, Joan Walker and by his sisters Gail (Barry) Jorgenson and Barb (Bruce) Murray. He was especially proud of his nieces Jana (Neil) Coats and Carole Cameron and his nephew Todd (Jodie) Murray and they have very fond childhood memories of their Uncle Jamie. In recent years Jamie was always interested in hearing about the academic and athletic accomplishments of his great nieces and nephews: Cameron, Celtie and Maddy Coats, Makensie Murray and Lucas, Logan and Lachlan Cameron.

Jamie was predeceased by his father, J.T. (Jim) Walker, and his grandparents Tom and Martha Walker and Mavis Mulhall.
In accordance with Jamie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date at the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, the family respectfully requests donations in Jamie’s memory to the Manor House Adult Day Program, Shelter House Thunder Bay or the charity of your choice.

May you rest in peace Jamie.
