Mrs. Janet Dusolt (Pichlyk/Tysoski), age 73 years, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2019, in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, with her daughter Debbi by her side.

Janet was born on December 14, 1945 in Vita, Manitoba. She moved to Thunder Bay in her late teen years. For most of her life she was looking after her family at home and being a Baba to her grandchildren. The coffee pot was always on for her neighbours or anyone who wanted to stop by for a visit to either catch up or reminisce. After every visit, regardless of who you were, you could always count on a smile and a wave from her, from either the window or the balcony as you left. Her time spent in the Housekeeping Department at the Port Arthur General Hospital created many friendships that lasted the passage of time. In later life Janet volunteered at the TBRH Cancer Centre for over 7 years. She was always totally devoted to her family, her friends and her community. Her pride and joy was a beautiful flower garden, seeing the grandchildren grow up and having lived long enough to have the joy of five great grandchildren – Paisley, Brynnly, Easton, Silos and Aria.

Janet will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Peter and her children from her first marriage to Frank Pichlyk – Debbi Boilard (Gilles), Dale Pichlyk (Carol) and Jeff Pichlyk (Jamie). Janet’s second marriage added Debbie Main (Jeff), Larry Dusolt (Puiy) and James Dusolt (Karen) to her family.

She will be especially deeply missed by her 14 grandchildren: Steven, Scott, Jessica, Taylor, Luke, Eric, Skye, Aurora, Sandra, Brook-lynn, Ravyn, Patrick, Kayla and Courteney.

Janet will also be sadly missed by her sisters Helen Cobel and Mary Wiwcharyk, and brothers Dennis Tysoski (Doreen) and Russel Tysoski (Olga).

Janet was predeceased by her parents Kazimer Tysoski and Nellie Trach, and also by her late husband Frank Pichlyk; her brothers-in-law Bill Cobel and Peter Wiwcharyk.

As per Janet’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral and cremation has taken place. A come-and-go Memorial Tea will be held this Saturday, January 26th, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Harbourview Funeral Centre on Cumberland Street. A family interment will be held at a later date.

Janet asked for a Celebration of Life in her honour to be held in late spring or early summer, so no one has to “..deal with the miserable winter driving conditions”.

In lieu of flowers and if friends so desire, the family requests donations in Janet’s memory be made to the THUNDER BAY REGIONAL HEALTH SCIENCES FOUNDATION.

The family would like to thank the staff at the TBRHSC Cancer Centre and on 1A for their exceptional care of Mom.
