Jantje (Jannie) Spanninga, age 84 years, resident of Good Shepherd Village, passed away September 21, 2016 with her family by her side.
Born in Holland to the late Hilda and Roel Westra. She married her husband of 54 years, Louwe Spanninga on April 17, 1953 and they immigrated to Canada in June of 1958 to Blake Township. Jennie loved her family, flowers, friends, cooking and baking. H
er home was a place everyone was welcome. She was the ear that would listen and the voice that told you to smarten up.
She was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She is survived by her children Rudy (Judy), Art (Terri), Alice (Bill) Hickman, Ben and Jen (Heather) Doucet; 23 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Also survived by her sister Elizabeth (Sjoerd) Burgstra in Holland and her best friend Jan. Predeceased by her husband, parents and 2 brothers.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date.
