It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of Jean Allard on October 14, 2017. Jean passed away surrounded by her family at St Joseph’s Hospice after a long battle with cancer.

Jean was born in Stratton, Ontario October 28, 1932. At the age of sixteen, she moved to Winnipeg, MB where she worked at Safeway. When she was transferred to Thunder Bay, she met the love of her life, Lorne Allard. They were married soon after.

While raising six children, Jean and Lorne successfully operated their family business. Lorne’s Cameras, Fishing Tackle, and Trophies Ltd, was located in the heart of downtown Thunder Bay.

After retiring, the couple spent more than a decade enjoying life together. They saw their family grow to include sixteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Jean’s family was her greatest pride in life and filled her with so much joy. She spent many summers fishing, hiking, crafting, and raising her family at the camp on Stewart Lake.

Jean loved spending time with her sisters, brothers, and friends. What we will remember most about Jean is her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and how she made everyone feel so special.

She is survived by her children; Brenda Allard, Lorna Faulkner, Michelle Allard (Shane), Brent Allard (Coreen), Janice Allard-Cameron (Jim Cameron), and Ross Allard (Laurence); her sixteen grandchildren; Colleen Whitehead, Jennifer Faulkner (Travis), Amanda Faulkner (Bryan), Jason Humphrey (Sydney), Erika Allard-Ihala (Matt), Scott Cameron, Sheena Allard (Mike), Matthew Humphrey, Michael Humphrey, Alisia Cameron (Matt), Marla Allard-Ihala, Jared Allard, Corbin Allard, Jacob Allard, Soliel Allard, and Stella Allard; her great grandchildren; Nathan Whitehead, Ella Whitehead, and Asher Martin; her siblings Shirley Turner, Jimmy Ross (Joan), John Ross (Carol), Melvin Ross (Sue), Rita Foshang (Sandy), Maxine Kramer (Len), and Kenny Ross; her husband’s family that has become her own; Bernie Allard (Linda), Sandra Allard, and Anthony Allard (Gilda); numerous nieces and nephews; and her extended family of Helen and Arnold Young.

She was predeceased by her parents Sadie and Albert Ross, her brother Ernie Ross, brothers-in-law Howard Foshang and Jerry Turner, and sister-in-law Janice Ross. Her heart was broken with the loss of Lorne, her husband of 60 years.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017, when family and friends will gather in Corpus Christi R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Victor DeGagne. Interment at St. Andrew’s Cemetery will follow the reception.

As expressions of sympathy memorials to the T.B.R.H.S. Foundation-Northern Cancer Fund would be appreciated. Arrangements are in care of the Sargent & Son Funeral Directors, 21 N. Court Street. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.

Jean’s family would like to thank Paramed for their care, and in particular Jeff and Nikita. Dr. Benzanson was incredible throughout Jean’s last months, making home visits regularly. The care she received at the Hospice at St Joseph’s Hospital was wonderful; the family would like to acknowledge Dr. Davis, and Nurses Amy and Clara for their extraordinary care. Father Victor of Corpus Christi Church and Father Luigi of St Anthony’s Church performed a beautiful ceremony of last rites for Jean in full attendance of her family.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Jean’s daughter Lorna for living with and caring for Jean during the past years, enabling Jean to remain in her home.
Goodnight All…
