Mrs. Jean Malcolm, age 90 years, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2021 in Southbridge Lakehead.

Jean was born June 15, 1931 to parents Melvie and Alf Waddell in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay) Ontario where she spent her life living and raising her family. Jean married the love of her life, Larry Malcolm in 1948 and they would have celebrated their 73rd Anniversary this coming September.

Jean enjoyed knitting, crocheting, camping and spending time with her family and friends. Many years were spent out at Pass Lake where they enjoyed their summers. She especially loved her retirement years with Larry which they spent in Texas during the winter months where they made many new friends. In 1994, they moved to Ignace to their retirement home moving back to Thunder Bay in 2016 due to ill health.

Jean will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband , Larry; by brother Sandy Waddell ( Andrea); daughters Sandy Free (Bob), Linda Jackson (Brian), Melanie Luc (Robert), Leslie Erickson; and son Ken Malcolm; grandchildren Lori, Barry, Jeff , Derek, Elizabeth, Craig , Brandon and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will also be very missed by her best friend and sister-in-law Judy Adams and many other family members and close friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Melvie and Alf and her grandson Ryan.

Jean loved music and could always be heard singing “On the Good Ship Lollipop” from her room at Southbridge Lakehead.

Many thanks to Roberta and Don Kerr for taking the time to go up and sing to mom and to Roberta for the many visits in her last days. It really made her happy.

An open house will be held on August 11th at The Summit Church, 515 Syndicate Avenue North, (front entrance from Finlayson Street) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. COVID restrictions will apply.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any local cat and dog rescues as Jean had a love for all animals.
