Jeanette Tibishkogijig
It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the tragic, sudden and unexpected passing of our “Baby-Jaye”. Jeanette Tibishkogijig was 27 years old. Born in Thunder Bay, Jeanette grew up in her home community of Whitesand First Nation before moving to Thunder Bay where she currently resided. Jeanette also has roots in Six Nations.

Jaye truly was one-of-a-kind, unique in her own ways. She was outspoken, strong willed and fearless. Jaye was a very nurturing and loving mother, and the most kind, caring, loving daughter, sister, auntie, cousin and friend that you could ask for. She always wore a smile on her face and she was always there to lend a helping hand, at any time and any place. ‘Any time was always time’, for Jaye. She always took the time to stop, chat and have laughs with anyone she happened to bump into. Every day was precious to Jaye and she always made sure to tell her babies that she loved them, every chance she could saying “Blow kisses to the moon my babies and I will catch them”. They are her beautiful creations, whom she loved dearly with all her heart and soul. She made sure they felt her love every chance she could. They certainly were her pride and joy. Jaye had a way of meeting and making friends, who then become family. Her family is one thing she kept close to her heart. She certainly had an impact on those she kept near to her heart.

Jeanette leaves behind 4 beautiful children, Izyiah Potan, Vaiyah-Lynn Potan, Reviyah Poton, Emiyah Poton, a niece who she raised as her own Myley-Lynn Cheesequay-Anderson and step children, Damara and Xander who she also loved as her own.
