It is with great sadness and sorrow to announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. Jessica Janet Wanakamik (Cheesaquay), born March 28, 1954 in Green, Ontario, at the TBRHSC passed peacefully with family by her side on Friday, February 17, 2023.
Not a day went by when Jessie was not with one or more of her grandchilren. There was always a grandchild or two by her side. She will be missed that way. Oh, how she loved her family, each and every one.
And not an afternoon went by without her watching her favourite soaps (Y&R and Days of Our Lives). She rarely missed an episode as a lifelong soap fan.
Many people called her mom - even nephews and nieces have fond memories of being cared for and fed by auntie Jessie. Yes, she will be missed.
She is survived by husband Eugene Sr., children Melissa (Justin), Eugene Jr. (Roseanna), Samantha (Maverick), and Jeffrey; numerous grandchildren, sister Edna and brother George; in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by parents Thaddeus & Irene, daughter Melody, brother Stanley, sister Yvonne, and numerous uncles and aunts.
Jessie will be buried in her hometown Armstrong by her daughter.
Viewing and visitation on Wednesday, February 22, from 3-4pm, at Sargent & Son Funeral Home.
Wake will be held on Wednesday evening and all day Thursday at Our Lady of the Snows in Armstrong. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 24, at 1:00 p.m. with Father Gerry McDougall officiating; she will be laid to rest following the service in Hillside Cemetery.
