It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jim Nichols.

On October 26th, 2017 Jim was called home to be with the Lord surrounded by the presence and love of his family.

Born in Geraldton on July 3rd, 1948 he was the oldest of 8 children, and grew up in Nipigon. In 1970 he married his sweetheart, Geneva, and began the start of a wonderful life together.

With a grade 8 education, Jim started to work. With one truck, working long hours, seven days a week, he built a successful company with a fleet of trucks that later joined in partnership with his son, James. At the end of each work day Jim ended it with these words, “Just one more load”.

He loved work so much he would have done it for free. He always had fun, no matter the work and he would say, “You know how people love to go golfing? That’s how I feel going to work”.  His true happiness came from being in his loader playing in the gravel pit.

The most important thing in life to Jim was his family. His hard work and huge heart ensured that they had everything that they needed. In addition to his family he had great passion in helping others in need.

Jim and Geneva, have three lovely children of whom they are very proud. He always said, “When I became a grandfather I became a millionaire”. His treasured moments were when he was surrounded by family. The thing he loved most was to see the reflection of his lessons and values in his children and grandchildren as they move through their own lives.

Jim will be sadly missed by the love his life, his best friend, and wife, Geneva; his children, daughter Terri (Rich) Gombola, son James (Manuela), and daughter Lorna; sadly missed by his grandchildren Austin and Taylor Gombola, Emily and Ethan Nichols and Aidan Levesque. Also survived by his brothers Conward (Maureen), Donald, Ronald (Ana), Lonnie (Viola), Albert Holder and sister-in-law Teri Nichols; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His loving pets Cupcake, Adam and Evie will also miss his kisses.

He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Gladys, sisters Jo-Anne and Jean; and brother Ricky.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 1st, 2017 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Pastor Chris Fiorito. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens will follow the reception. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service.

Special thanks are extended to Dr. MacDonald, Victor and the entire staff on 3B at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for their exceptional care.
