Joan Ellen O'Neill (Begin) age 87 years, passed away peacefully with family by her side at St. Joseph's Hospital on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. Leading up to the end of Joan's journey she battled breast cancer and kidney failure with great courage.

Joan was a loving wife of 63 years to her husband Michael O'Neill, and mother to 3 children, Kelli, Michael and Patrick. Joan's passion was for her family, growing up the eldest of 5 brothers, her nurturing ways started early in life. A talented seamstress thought the years, Joan created many wedding dresses for family and friends. She spent many hours at her sewing machine creating many dresses that were loved by many. Along her journey in life Joan picked up crafting and on weekends would join her daughter Kelli at many shows during the November and December months. For over 50 years Joan belonged to the St. Margaret's Church CWL were she developed long lasting friendships, with ladies in her community. She touched many people during her life, we have been blessed to have her for so many years.

Joan is survived by her loving husband Michael (Mickey), daughter Kelli (Claude), son Michael (Lillian,) son Patrick (Jenn), grandchildren Sherry-Lynn, Shawna (Eric) Christopher, Michael, Christina, Liam, Ciaran, Ben, and Adam, great-grandchildren Micheala, Kendall, R.J., Danielle, Ashley, Christopher Jr. Audrienna, Farrah and Camryn as well as great- great grandson Xavier to be born anytime. Joan is also survived by brothers Edward (Shirley), Paul (Darlene), Tom (Eileen) Gordon (Cheryl) along with numerous cousins.

Joan was predeceased by her mother Cecilia in 1979, father Adelord in 1981 and brother James in 1950. 

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 in the chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street with Rev. Ciaran Donnelly officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
