Joan Mary Adduono

It is with extreme sadness and broken hearts we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandmother and recent great-grandmother Joan Mary Adduono. Joan passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 28, at Hogarth Riverview Manor with her family by her side after a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease.

Joan was born on September 13,1938 to Jenny and Ted Cameron. She attended Ogden Street School and went on to graduate from Selkirk Vocational in 1955 with longtime friends Annette, Stella, Sonya, Eileen and Roberta. On May 28, 1959 Joan married Bill Adduono and they spent 59 years together. In 1966, Joan and Bill built their house at 407 Agate Bay and spent 46 years there together.

Joan loved her home and was happiest when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. It was the many Sunday spaghetti dinners and days entertaining family and friends in the backyard pool that were important to Joan. In their younger years, Joan and Bill enjoyed traveling to Brownsville Texas, Florida, Hawaii and Las Vegas with the golfing crew. Many laughs and jokes were shared among these couples. Joan worked for A.R. MacLeay Ltd for many years and briefly for the Canadian Government Income Tax Division. Life changed drastically with Mom’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease, Dad became her constant caregiver right until the end. When it was no longer possible to care for Mom at home, she moved to Dawson Court and then later Hogarth Riverview Manor. We are forever grateful to the staff of 2N Dawson Court and 2N Lavender for their care, compassion and dedication to our mother.

Joan will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her loving husband Bill, daughters Geraldine Stoot (David), Cheryl Harrison (Shawn) and her son Bill (Nancy Steel), grandchildren Derek (Brooke), Timothy (Mary), Andrew (Lauren) Adduono, Lauren and Rachel Stoot, Mitchell and Shaelyn Harrison and great grandson Finn Adduono. Brother-in-laws Herb Adduono, Raymond (Vicki) Adduono and their families. Joan was predeceased by her parents Ted and Jenny Cameron, brother and sister-in-law Ron and Murving Cameron, in-laws Jerry and Helen Adduono, brother-in-law Sonny Adduono and sister-in-law Joyce Adduono.

A Celebration of Joan’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday August 2, 2018 at St. Dominic’s Church celebrated by Rev. Daniel Lapolla c.s. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Thunder Bay would be greatly appreciated.

Joan Adduono will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 9, 2019.
