Mr. John Gerald Minor, know to everyone as Jack, age 87 years and resident of Thunder Bay, passed away with his family gathered around him at Hogarth Riverview Manor, 5 North on January 18, 2018.

Jack was born on November 15, 1930 in Kenora, Ontario. There, he was raised, educated and started his life-long career with the Department of Lands and Forests, later the Ministry of Natural Resources. He was well known for his deep understanding and skill in fighting forest fires and for his passion for airplanes.
In 1950, Jack married the love of his life, Heilene. They raised three children and lived a rich and wonderful life together until June, 2013, when Heilene passed away. Travelling took them across Canada and around the world and in their retirement, Jack and Heilene devoted many years to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. In their later years, a move to Thunder Bay brought them close to their family.

Jack was predeceased by his Mother and Father, Margaret and George, and by his three sisters and then by Heilene, in 2013. He lived out the remainder of his life in the care of the compassionate and loving staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor. During this time, Jack also had the support of the wonderful staff from Superior Elder Care, June, Jean and Susan.

Jack is survived by his three children, Jay (Satu), Tanis (Rob and son, Robbie) and Erin (Murray), and his three grandchildren Shanthi, Johannes and Tuomas.
A celebration of Jack's life will take place during the summer months in his hometown of Kenora, Ontario.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
