In his 69th year, John Joseph Bouley of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2019 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with his family by his side.

John was born on January 9, 1950 in the town of Atikokan Ontario. After working a variety of jobs throughout his career, John Retired from Thunder Bay Transit after 29 years of service. John loved volunteering in his community and spent much of his time over the years volunteering for the Lakehead Search and Rescue Unit and the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association. John also dedicated his free time to entertaining seniors who knew him as “Country John”. John enjoyed spending his time playing golf and billiards, fishing, watching sports and spending time at One Island Lake with his family. He spent many of his days splitting wood to ensure his family stayed warm over the winter months. 

John was an incredible man who never hesitated to help out a neighbor, friend or family member in need. John’s biggest pride and joy was his wife, children and his grandchildren.

John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by everyone who knew him. John is survived by his wife, the love of his life Noella, his three children, Kevin (Michelle), Andrew (Denise) and Rachelle (Chris), his grandchildren Morgan (Breanna), Everett, Abbigail and Lily, and his great granddaughter Violet. He is also survived by his siblings Carmel, Connie, Rolly, Dolly, Shirley, Candy, Bob, and Ira (Cathy) and numerous nieces and nephews. John is pre-deceased by his parents, Charles and Candid Bouley and two brothers Maurice and Alex Bouley.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019 in Our Lady of Loretto Roman Catholic Church, 290 Grenville Avenue, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Francis Pudicherry. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the Mass. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Parkinson Canada, The Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

An open house will be hosted by the family at 2:00 p.m. at John and Noella’s house following the interment.

A special thank you and great appreciation goes out to the first response team, paramedics, physicians and nurses in the emergency and oncology units at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for all of the compassionate care they provided to our loved one during his final days with us. Also, a big thank you to friends and family who supported our family throughout Dad’s lengthy illness.
