Mr. John Kuznak “DOC”, age 61 years, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2017, at home with family by his side.

John was born on June 26, 1956 in Marathon, Ontario to parents Ellen and Michael Kuznak. As a young man, he worked for the Seafarers International Union and Thunder Bay Grain Trimmers. In 1989, he began working at Erb Transport, a job that he loved and continued to work at for the past 28 years.

John was active in sports in his younger days, playing on various hockey and baseball teams throughout the years. He also enjoyed coaching his son Dane’s hockey team. He was involved in a recreational bowling league for the past several years as well. John enjoyed fishing and camping, sitting around a campfire with a nice cold beer and spending time with family at the “ponderosa”.

John was a man with a giant heart who was always willing to help, often putting others above himself. He made friends everywhere he went, with his great sense of humour and quick wit. He enjoyed his job immensely and always went that extra mile to please his customers. He formed many strong, life long friendships during his time with Erb Transport. John was a family man. He especially loved being a grandfather to his grandsons Jonathan and Beaux and his special grandpuppy Jerry.

John will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Wendy of 38 years, daughter Jodie Sutton (Rick), and grandsons Jonathon and Beaux. He is survived by sisters Carolyne Linde (Gary) and Gale Halow; brothers Michael, Timmy (Nancy) and Donald (Ann); stepbrothers John and Robert (Mira); special sister-in-law Kathleen; Goddaughter Amber Miettinen (Ryan); several in-laws; many nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers.

John was predeceased by his son Dane; parents Michael and Ellen; brother Tony; stepbrothers Karl, Marty and Ken; stepsisters Marlene, Barbara and Bonnie; mother and father-in-law Rose and Reijo Maki; and sister-in-law Cindy Maki.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. Ed Long.  Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service. Should friends and family so desire, donations may be made in John’s memory to the Northern Cancer Fund or a charity of your choice.
