It is with our great sadness that we announce John (Jack) Edward Lundstrom has passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 at the age of 87. Jack is survived by his wife Evelyn, his son Bert of Armstrong and his daughter Deb Fong (Don), as well as 3 grandchildren Brittany, Brandon, and Breann all of Calgary, AB, stepdaughter Mona Crowley (Jason) and grandson  Sean of Bradenton, Florida, sister-in-law Lilian of Upsula, as well as several other in-laws on his wife's side. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jack was born and raised in Fort William, after completing high school he went on to Ryerson College in Toronto and then returned to work in the construction industry in Thunder Bay and area.

In 1961 Jack married Joyce Philipchuk and together they established J & J General Store, Armstrong, ON, which was the main stay of the town for 54 years until retiring in 2015. In the mid-1960's Jack and his brother-in-law Mike Latoski developed Obonga Cottages and outpost camps. In 1974 Jack and his partner Ed Dupuis bought the former Radar Base and created D & L Estates, which operated many years providing restaurant, motel, apartment rentals and many others services. Jack was a well-respected businessman for many years in Armstrong and involved in many community services, such as Armstrong Medical Clinic, Fire Department, Local Roads Board, ARDC, Lions Club, etc.

Jack enjoyed being an avid bush pilot along with co-pilot Jinx (family dog). Jack had many hobbies and interests a.k.a. Jack of all trades.

Jack was predeceased by his wife Joyce Philipchuk, of many years. Second wife Ruth. He was also predeceased by his father and mother Bertil and Grace Lundstrom, brothers Harold, Jim and sister Joy. We would like to acknowledge the excellent care and compassion that Jack received from his medical and personal care givers over the years.

As per Jack's wishes cremation and a private interment has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at the community centre in Armstrong on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to your choice of a health care charity would be appreciated.
