Mr. John Michael Bobinski, age 91 years, ended his journey on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 with his family at his side in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

John was born in Rossburn, Man., on Jan. 22, 1920 and grew up on the family farm. When the Second World War began he enlisted in The Royal Canadian Army serving in Europe. At the war's end he was stationed in Holland where he met Margaret Mulder.
He worked as a waiter and lumberjack before becoming employed with Abitibi Provincial Mill where he worked until his retirement in 1983.

John loved the outdoors, with hunting and fishing being his passions. He was a community minded person who gave his time as a driver for the Canadian Cancer Society and as an Equipment Manager for the West End Bearcats. John is survived by his wife of 64 years,

Margaret (nee Mulder), son Henry (Lynda) Bobinski, daughter Joanne (Ken) Duke, grandson Christopher (Amanda Topetto) Bobinski and great granddaughter Emily Bobinski. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. He was predeceased by his son Johnny in childhood, parents Walter and Katerina, brother Joseph and sisters Ann Zimmerman, Mary Zimmerman and Helen Mychasiw.
