<p> Mr. John Michael Bobinski, age 91 years, ended his journey on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 with his family at his side in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> John was born in Rossburn, Man., on Jan. 22, 1920 and grew up on the family farm.&nbsp; When&nbsp;the Second World War began&nbsp;he enlisted in The Royal Canadian Army serving in Europe.&nbsp;At the war&#39;s end he was stationed in Holland where he met Margaret Mulder.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> The two were married in Fort William in 1947 and lived on Ray Blvd. where they raised their three children.&nbsp; John&#39;s greatest joy came in time spent with his family.&nbsp; He worked as a waiter and lumberjack before becoming employed with Abitibi Provincial Mill where he worked until his retirement in 1983.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> John loved the outdoors, with hunting and fishing being his passions.&nbsp; He was a community minded person who gave his time as a driver for the Canadian Cancer Society and as an Equipment Manager for the West End Bearcats.&nbsp; John is survived by his wife of 64 years,<br /> <br /> Margaret (nee Mulder), son Henry (Lynda) Bobinski, daughter Joanne (Ken) Duke, grandson Christopher (Amanda Topetto) Bobinski and great granddaughter Emily Bobinski. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.&nbsp; He was predeceased by his son Johnny in childhood, parents Walter and Katerina, brother Joseph and sisters Ann Zimmerman, Mary Zimmerman and Helen Mychasiw.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 when family and friends will gather in Corpus Christi R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 2 p.m.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> At the conclusion of the Funeral Mass the members of Branch #5 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold their Service of Tribute.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Services will be complete in the church with a private interment to take place in St. Andrew&#39;s Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation for friends will be held on Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Sargent &amp; Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street where the Vigil Service will begin at 6:30 p.m.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> In lieu of flowers memorials to the Thunder&nbsp; Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation or the Branch #5 Building Fund would be appreciated.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Online condolences may be made at <a href="http://www.sargentandson.com">www.sargentandson.com</a>.<br /> &nbsp;</p> <p> &nbsp;</p>
