Mr. John Ruberto, age 77 years, passed away peacefully in the T.B.R.H.S.C. on June 10, 2017 with loving family at his side.

John was born in Sambiase, Catanzaro, Italy on October 24, 1939, the son of Vincenzo and Maria Ruberto. In 1952, he along with his father and brother Frank immigrated to Canada. Upon his arrival he attended high school at P.A.C.I. and later Teacher’s College before entering into his lifelong profession as a hair stylist. John and best friend and brother Frank purchased Roland’s Hair Styling then John opened up Mr. John’s Coiffures on Park Street in 1967 and lastly owned and operated the Cutting Room. After selling his business he began his semi-retirement working part-time with his brother Frank at Frank’s Barber Shop on Red River Road.

John shared a very special relationship with his brother Frank. The two of them lived under the same roof for their entire lives and were inseparable. John loved Frank’s family as if they were his own. He enjoyed golfing, traveling in his younger years, playing pool, being everyone’s handyman, bowling and most especially spending time with family and friends.

He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by sister-in-law Anna Ruberto, her children Rosemarie (Paul) Campbell, Vince (Gina), Tony (Susan) and Frank (Michele) Ruberto, brothers Vince (Francesca) and Sam (Nina) as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and everyone that knew him as Uncle John. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Giovanna (Vincenzo) Ruberto, Francesca (Frank) Ruberto, Carmella DeFazio and Rose (Frank) Stella and brother and most recently brother Frank.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 when family and friends will gather at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 2 p.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini. Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Church. The inurnment service will take place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the T.B.R.H.S. Foundation-Northern Cancer Fund would be appreciated. Arrangements are in care of the Sargent & Son Funeral Directors, 21 N. Court Street.
