On Monday, November 5, 2018, John Sajna, passed away suddenly at the age of 89. John will be missed and forever lovingly remembered by his cherished wife of 61 years Carmel, children Maureen Clarke, Edward Sajna and Susan Sajna; grandchildren Ariss Sutherland, Solomon Clarke, Jesse Clarke, Laura Dennis and spouses. Four great-grandchildren, large extended family, close friends and special neighbours share our joy in knowing John and mourn his loss.

John was born in Fort William in 1929, went to Selkirk High school and worked at Abitibi Paper mill as Stationary Engineer for most of his 40 years there.  A talented woodworker, he built 2 camps at Sturgeon Bay and one at Shebandowan Lake, where many wonderful memories were made with family and friends.  Especially after retirement, he and Carmel were very involved with many activities, including serving in various capacities at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, volunteering at Grandview Lodge and bowling in the Golden Agers Bowling League at Playtime Lanes.

John loved nature, fishing and laughter; was a constant learner and loyal in faith and deed. He enjoyed sharing his incredible wisdom. But his greatest love is by far, his family.  Special thanks to Dr. Hartford (and staff) for the home visits and care. Following cremation, the Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 10th, at 11:00a.m. at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Stilla.  Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service at 10:00a.m. Private interment will be at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

John Sajna will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 9, 2019.
