John Stirling Wallace passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, November 10, 2015 in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with his wife Marilyn by his side.

John was born in Port Arthur, Ontario, the only child to Jack and Hellen Wallace.  Enthusiastically interested in all sports, he participated in bowling, darts and pool. He attended Prospect School and Port Arthur Technical Institute (Hillcrest).  John was a loyal, well-respected, unassuming CNR Police Officer who was honoured for commendable service.  He retired as Captain after 32 years of service.

John is survived by his devoted wife Marilyn, nee Williams, of 52 years; sons Roben (Adele), Thunder Bay, and Kyle (Alisa); grandchildren Brennan and Cara, Elk River, Minnesota; cousins Sandy Shaw (Honor), Elizabeth Whalley, Susan Burrows (David), Edith Bevington, Peggy (Don) Chase, Dorothy (Peter) Christy, Jane Ann Peachy; aunt Gladys Van Hatten and cousins Ted, Tom, David, Michael Van Hatten and Shelley Gorst.

He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Hellen Wallace; mother-in-law and father-in-law Lillian and Clarence Williams; brothers-in-law Roy and Rodger Williams, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 in Knox United Church, 1 Shuniah Street, presided by Rev. David Silliman.  Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service. 

In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy, donations in John’s memory to the Health Sciences Foundation, designated to the Northern Cardiac Fund,  would be appreciated.
