Mr. John Syvitski age 90 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in St. Joseph's Hospital, on Monday, June 8, 2015.

Born March 8 1925 in Fort William to parents John and Margaret (Cybulski) Syvitski. When discharged from the Army he worked for in the business Dreswell Deluxe Cleaners and Launderers, which was founded by his father, which he and his four brothers owned and operated.

John was affectionately known as “Johnny Dreswell” by his customers in Red Rock and Nipigon. He was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. He dedicated his life to wife, work and home, He is survived by wife of 59 years, Anna (Kozody), with whom he traveled to Texas every winter for the past twenty five years.

Also surviving are sisters Dorothy Mahoney (Florida, Margaret Fodchuk (Thunder Bay) Florence Wilkinson, (Tilsonburg), Genevieve and Joe Mastrangelo, Rose Marie Zelinski, brothers Martin, Raymond and Carolyn and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother Margaret in 1962, father J.J. in 1985, sisters Isabel, and Tommy Borutski in Schreiber, brothers Patrick and wife Estelle, Lorne and wife Sally, sister-in-law Onietta, brothers-in-law John Herman, Jerry Mahoney, John Fodchuk, Gordon Wilkinson, Earl Zelinski and niece Janet (Wilkinson) McAndrew.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 1:30pm, at St. Patrick's Cathedral celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G.. 

Inurnment will follow in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum, St. Andrews Cemetery. Prayers will be offered June 24, 2015 at  7:00pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel.  Flowers gratefully declined, but if friends desire memorials to St. Joseph’s Foundation would be appreciated.

John Syvitski will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
