Mr. John “Jack” William Huskie, age 84 years, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, October 24, 2016.

Jack was born in Melita, Manitoba on December 17, 1931 and moved to Port Arthur with his family as a child. He and his siblings spent nine years in St. Joseph's Orphanage due to unfortunate family circumstances.

Although this was a difficult time, they were all treated very well and the experience helped them in life.

Jack went to work at the age of 16, spending time in the ship yards, then United Grain Growers Elevator, until retirement at the age of 64 years. He loved to fish and curl and was a avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Jack also loved spending time at the family camp at Johnson's Landing, creating many happy and wonderful memories with his wife, relatives and friends.

John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Glenys; his brother Leonard; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Dona (Peter) Toohey and Carol (Edmund) David; cousins John “Eddie” Ternowsky and Cindy Suworow (Wendell Panula) as well as much loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his beloved rescue cat, Mona.

He was predeceased by his parents, Irene (nee Ternowsky) and Jack Huskie; sister Eileen (Bob) Hilliard and sister Betty Huskie.

In accordance with Jack's wishes, a private family graveside service will be held in Mountainview Cemetery at a later date. Should friends so desire memorial donations made to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
