It is with heavy hearts the family of Jolan Nagy announce her sudden passing on October 13, 2017.

Jolan was born on February 24, 1935 to Margaret and Gabor in Hungary. She was the middle child of 3 children. In 1954 she met and married her husband Ferenc Cserged and had 2 children Frank and Katalin. On November 20, 1963 with her 2 children, Jolan travelled to Canada to join her husband Ferenc. They settled in Finmark in an old farmhouse and 2 years later the family expanded with the additions of Joe and Sylvie. Eventually with a lot of hard work this homestead became the family Hobby Farm. It was on this Hobby Farm that Jolan spent 23 years of her life raising a family and running a very successful farm. In 1986 Jolan along with Joe and Sylvie moved into the city to start a new life. She worked for 5-Star bakery for many years until her retirement. Jolan enjoyed gardening, sewing, Hungarian cooking, and travelling to Hungary on numerous occasions to visit family. She had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of the New Apostolic Church.

Jolan was predeceased by her brother Joesph, Ferenc Cserged, and her son Frank and a son in infancy. She is survived by her 3 children Katalin (George) Joe and Sylvie, 3 grandchildren; Jennifer, Grant (Jessica) and Quinten and 2 great grandchildren Gavin and Alivia. She is also survived by her sister Ilonka and many relatives in Hungary.

A celebration of Jolan's life will be held at the Harborview Funeral Centre on Saturday, October 21, 2017 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Hendel officiating. Those who so desire may make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Memory of Jolan.

The Cross In My Pocket

I carry a cross in my pocket
A simple reminder to me
Of the fact that I am a Christian
No matter where I may be.

This little cross is not magic,
Nor is it a good luck charm
It isn't meant to protect me
From every physical harm.

It's not for identification
For all the world to see
It's simply an understanding
Between my Savior and me.

When I put my hand in my pocket
To bring out a coin or a key
The cross is there to remind me
Of the price He paid for me.

It reminds me to, to be thankful
For my blessings day by day
And to strive to serve Him better
In all that I do and say.

It's also a daily reminder
Of the peace and comfort I share
With all who know my Master
And give themselves to His care.

So, I carry a cross in my pocket
Reminding no one but me
That Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life
If only I'll let Him be.
